Miss Iowa sports state-themed shoes : In place of the regular competition yesterday,
the girls participated in the DSW "Show Us Your Shoes" Parade. Each
contestant had a shoe that they decorated to represent their state and paraded
it to all of their fans around the fountains of the Arc de Triomphe replica at
the Paris Hotel. The parade began with the current Miss America Caressa Cameron
singing “In My Red High Heels." Then, a marching band led the way for
all 53 contestants as well as 40 of the Miss Outstanding Teens and 40 of the former
Miss Americas who are in Las Vegas to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the pageant.
Pauli’s six-inch pink platform pump was decorated with a pig’s nose
and tail along with a sparkly wind turbine to represent Iowa’s farms. Pauli
and her mother were dressed up as farmers and walked with a sign that read “Is
this heaven? No, it’s Miss Iowa!”
